Setelah bocor di berbagai media Internet, akhirnya Nokia 5800 xpressMusic diluncurkan secara resmi. Bagi yang sudah kangen atau penasaran ingin mencoba ponsel Nokia dengan layar sentuh, inilah jawaban yang diberikan Nokia. Ponsel ini juga merupakan ponsel pertama yang menggunakan software S60 5th Edition. Untuk keunggulan Symbian S60 5th edition akan dibahas di posting terpisah.

Untuk menyajikan pengalaman touchscreen yang baru, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic memperkenalkan “Media Bar”, menu berguna yang memberikan akses langsung ke fungsi musik dan hiburan, seperti lagu, video, dan foto favorit. Media Bar juga menawarkan sambungan langsung ke Web dan online sharing. Bicara soal web, ponsel ini telah mendukung konten Flash, jadi surfing di ponsel hampir tak berbeda dibanding di PC biasa.
Selain itu, terdapat “Contacts Bar” yang menampilkan empat kontak favorit Anda di layar utama. Di layar utama, Anda juga dapat mengakses dengan cepat SMS, email, foto, blog update, dan berbagai informasi lain dengan cepat.

Dengan layar lebar 3,2 inci dengan aspek ratio dan video playback 30fps, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic amat cocok untuk multimedia. Oh ya, karena memiliki embel-embel XpressMusic, fitur musiknya juga cukup terdepan dengan dukungan memori 8GB, jack 3,5mm, dan graphic equalizer.
Namun yang paling menarik justru adalah kemampuan kameranya. Memang resolusi 3,2 megapixel bukanlah yang paling terbesar, tapi inilah ponsel XpressMusic pertama yang dilengkapi lensa Carl Zeiss. Jadi hasil fotonya dijamin lebih bagus dibanding ponsel musik Nokia terdahulu.  Nokia 5800 XpressMusic akan tersedia akhir tahun 2008 dengan haga pasaran sekitar 279 EURO sebelum pajak.

Dilihat dari segi fiturnya, ponsel ini tidak kalah dengan iPhone, namun masih perlu dilihat seberapa banyak aplikasi Symbian S60 yang kompatibel dengan 5th Edition dan seberapa inovatif aplikasi baru yang memanfaatkan interface sentuh ini.

Setelah dikonfirmasi ke petinggi Nokia, 5800 XpressMusic akan diluncurkan pertama kali di dunia di Indonesia sebelum tahun 2008 berakhir. Hebat!!! Menurut prediksi saya, ponsel ini akan dipasarkan seharga Rp 3,799 juta.
